Description of quartet music
A quartet is a musical composition for four instruments or voices, also referring to the group of four performers. The most common type of quartet is the string quartet, consisting of two violins, a viola, and a cello. Quartets can also be formed with other instruments such as woodwinds or brass, and vocal quartets are common as well.
