Description of nu metal music
Nu metal is a subgenre of heavy metal that emerged in the mid-to-late 1990s and early 2000s. It is characterized by its fusion of heavy metal with elements of other genres, such as hip-hop, grunge, and alternative rock. Nu metal bands often use downtuned and distorted guitars, along with samples, turntables, and other electronic elements.
Musically, nu metal often features a mix of rap-style vocals, screaming, and melodic singing, as well as heavy use of percussion and rhythm. The genre is known for its use of syncopated rhythms, unconventional song structures, and the incorporation of elements from other genres.
Some of the most well-known and influential nu metal bands include Korn, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Slipknot, and Deftones, among others. Nu metal has also influenced a range of subsequent genres and movements, including metalcore and rap metal.
While nu metal experienced a decline in popularity in the mid-2000s, the genre has remained influential and continues to have a devoted fanbase.
