Gorenoise is a subgenre of extreme metal music that blends elements of goregrind and harsh noise. It is characterized by the use of distorted, heavily processed soundscapes that incorporate brutal, gory lyrics and samples of horror movie soundtracks, along with blast beats and grinding guitar riffs. The genre is often associated with shock value and extreme subject matter, including violence, gore, and mutilation. Some of the prominent bands in the gorenoise scene include Vomitoma, Carnal Diafragma, and Anal Birth. Gorenoise is a relatively niche genre within extreme metal and is not as widely recognized as some of its more mainstream counterparts like death metal or black metal.
